May 12th marked the day me and El opened our first 6DongDong boutique, cooperating with 2 other friends Kunl and cL. The boutique is called 6DongDong & KStyle, to be exact, but we were all very excited to share the good news! 

Today is also the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia ( IDAHO ), the day to spread and share awareness about LGBT community to everyone. Usually I cannot say much about LGBT, because to me, they are human beings just like us and nothing about them is different from the straight group. They laugh, they cry, they eat, they poop, they work, they love, they breathe, they have one head, 2 eyes, 1 nose, 1 mouth, 2 ears, 2 arms, 2 legs, etc. Going to an art school, I have seen ones who are very talented, very fun to be with, very loyal, and very humane. Nothing about them is threatening to our society except that they are super perfect and we straight people can never have a chance with them unless we voluntarily change our sexual orientation. (Of course there are bad apples in their community too, JUST LIKE OURS.) LGBT is also not anything new to this century, it has always been there since ancient, but we failed to remember it as part of history. Don’t be frightened of their existence. In the end we all die, why hate when you can love? 

My life seems to be changing in high speed, but quick decisions may lead to good opportunities so I’m looking forward to it. ♥

P.S.: Some clients don’t know what they want, or don’t tell what they want and expect the designer to read their mind. Some don’t know what they are talking about and stuck with their own “idea”. *Sighs*

It’s Earth Day!!! These tees and tanks match the topic of the day because I bought them from Forever 21 when they had a special collection that supported WWF. I know, why don’t I go out there to Africa, actually donate, or create a campaign to encourage people to help animals instead of sitting here shopping and bragging out it? 

I am not perfect, neither are you so don’t expect me to be a role model for you. I will physically do something for Earth Day but not now, I have my own way of helping the environment. At least I don’t abuse animals because I love them. When I traveled to Bangkok with my friend at 13, my heart broke when I saw a poor tiger being chained to a display cage, and did not laugh when elephants were performing. I appreciate it when Safari keeps a natural habitat for the wild animals, and may help save their species before they all got killed in their original location but  animals are prettiest and coolest when they are living freely in the wild, not under human’s hands! I never understood the meaning of sex before marriage because it may leads you to unwanted pregnancy, which adds another person into our overpopulation. Overpopulation leads to overuse of energy, water, and land, which means the other species have to give up their habitats to us. Not to mention you may give your child a harder life than they deserve.

Have you ever felt guilty about using your own vehicle when public transportations are available? ( I do not blame anyone that HAS TO use their own cars/motocycles/scooters, only those who can ride public ones but chose not to ) Ever wondered where your bird’s nest soup come from? Ever wondered which species is being abused or going extinct in your country? Ever cared to know what is going on after the Gulf Coast Oil Spill incident? I can list all day about EP to you but you really have to figure if you want to know.   

Thanks to Mr. Fujiko F. Fujio who created Doraemon, I read his manga and learnt about some of the most important green issues at young age such as animal abuses leading to extinction, pollution, energy efficiency. Sad truth is Doraemon mentioned about environmental problems (EP) at least 20-30 years ago and only recently we realize the damages are actually happening. How come our awareness about these things are so weak ? Even though you cannot fly all the way to the forests and protect the endangered animals, you can still learn about EP and act based on your potential. Imagine all of us were against BP ( the company behind the oil spill ), they wouldn’t be so confidently continuing oil drill now. Sea creatures descendants are being born deformed, children are being affected by eating and living close the area, and BP still gained billions from their crime. Remember the Orange agent victims? See the similarity?

I hope to share the unlimited EP facts to friends but when I, or others try to share the information, some people act like “Ooh, so what? If you don’t actually go and help them, then don’t share them!” It is not only about doing what, but also about what you acknowledged and how much you understand the problems. You know the global climate is drastically changing, but if you don’t understand it was because of our daily activities: dumping wastes without reusing and recycling, using non-biodegrable materials (plastics), polluting resources, etc. then it only means “It’s The End of the World” to you, instead of “We caused it, we have to do something, we have to compensate!” 

If living creatures and plants were able to speak, they would not stop complaining about us taking their land until our ears explode. If they were able to walk, we might have to surrender because lions, tigers, and enormous trees would love to take a vacation in our homes. If air and natural resources were able to think, they would pack their stuff and reside in another planet while leave us here die suffocated. Think again about how you live, and what you learn per day, is it enough to only think for your own species? 

Recommendation : Care2.com is a great place to find sources of green issues related info, I get their newsletter daily in my e-mail account and it’s always full of news from animal abuse to green guides to racism to politics.

I WANT THIS!!! Gorgeous!!! 

Vietnamese snacks!!! These are ones of those very authentic snacks that are ONLY good when you get them in Vietnam. 
Guess what the first one is. It’s rice roll paper we usually use to make spring rolls ! They are shredded and mixed with onions, salt, pepper, etc. and eaten using chopsticks. They are super super super fun to eat after a long day !!! X3 
The second photo is my guilty pleasure because it’s one of the most fattening snacks in Vietnam. In that plastic bag is dried, and (kind of) burnt rice that are mixed with dried pepper. The crunchiness and spiciness in every bite of “burnt-rice” ( literally, cơm cháy) just melt my heart without trying. X3~~~ Each bag of 1 pound of rice costs about $2 and they would last a week. XD

It’s been so hot lately =.= I had to stay as close to the air con as possible. One lucky thing is that we always have oranges and grapefruits at home as refreshing snacks. I love citrus, any kind of them is my favorite :X So I came up with a makeup concept called Citrus Family. First version is of course my favorite of all, Tangerine, and second version is Grapefruit. Both goes with a bit of Lemon ( the green peel kind)
To do Tangerine makeup, I use, of course, tangerine color on the top lid and green on the bottom one, with pinkish coral blush and tangerine lipstick. At first I thought I would use highlighter for blush only but it didn’t give a Summer vibe I wanted. 
For Grapefruit makeup, it may be a bit confusing to those who’s familiar with asian grapefruit since I use pink eyeshadow but that is the color I see when I think of grapefruit, sorry lol. It’s the same as how I see colors when I think of certain numbers and I can’t help referring them to each other on anything I design or do. The results came out quite satisfying, Tangerine seems to be Summery and playful while Grapefruit is girly-ish ?  Yes, no?

Freedom! 

I do not do things I do not want to, nor things I am not passionate about, it is the same as living a fake life just to please everyone. So what? I can be tough, I can be soft to anyone but inside this is me, a straightforward, secretive ( kind of ! ☼) girl who only focuses on what she believes in.

I’m lucky to have family and friends who understand and help me no matter how many times I fail. Sounds cliche again, right? But it’s true. This is a new start, for me, and for 6DongDong.
